X-RAY WorX is one of the world's leading independent producers of high-resolution microfocus X-ray tubes for non-destructive material testing in industry and research. Applications for microfocus X-ray tubes are among others X-ray microscopy, high-resolution computed tomography (CT) and digital radiography with rod anode tubes.
X-RAY WorX pursues the objective to develop microfocus X-ray tubes and to provide services that help customers to operate their X-ray systems efficiently, reliably and safely with high availability to meet today´s and future quality requirements and standards.
Application
When analysing components with high overall wall thickness like aircraft engine parts, hollow chamber profiles or welded tubes using standard microfocus X-ray tubes it might be necessary to penetrate severall walls or layers of material. This may lead to poor X-ray intensity at the detector and increase exposure times significantly. In this case it would be a great advantage to introduce the X-ray source into the part and decrease the penetrated wall thickness. This would also offer the opportunity to position the focal spot closer to the area of interest and allow higher magnification.
To meet these requirements we offer rod anode tubes. Rod anode tubes have an extension tube at the top end - the so-called rod. The source of X-ray is located at the tip of this rod. The rod can be inserted into components where the area of interest is difficult to access. The detector, film or image plate is positioned on the outer surface of the component.
