In China, August 15th of the lunar calendar is the traditional mid autumn festival . It is in the middle of autumn, so called mid autumn festival.
At the night, the moon is brighter than usual.
ecause the full moon is round and this shape symbolises reunion, the Mid-Autumn Festival is also a time for family reunions.
In the Zhou dynasty, during the Autumn Festival , people held activities to welcome winter and moon ceremony. There are many kinds of food: mooncake, watermelon, apple, red date plum and rape. The whole families shared one mooncake, the pieces depended on the number of family members,all the size should be of the same. Many different ceremonies all express people’s love for life.
